Master Gardener and LWC Member Jean Pici

Presents Seed Starting Class at February LWC Luncheon

LWC member and Certified Master Gardener Jean Pici (pictured right) presented a program on “Seed Starting” at the February 2nd LWC General Meeting/Luncheon at the LWC Clubhouse.

Jean’s program addressed the entire seed starting process from selecting the seeds through transplanting them.   Her program handouts included:

        - A Garden Journal Page

        - Tips Sheet

        - Cooperative Extension Bulletin

             “Vegetable Varieties for Northeastern

                Nevada with Planting Dates”

Jean also had a “special gift” for all attendees - their own seed starting kits complete with tomato seeds.

Our speaker Jean Pici is not only a Certified Master Gardener, but is also a Certified Square Foot Gardening Teacher, and has recently attended a workshop on Hoop Houses (greenhouses) in Yerington, Nevada. On her “mini” farm in Thistle Junction, Jean practices what she preaches on gardening and has her own greenhouse. She continues to perfect her gardening techniques and also teaches others how to plant and grow successful gardens in Elko County.
