GFWC Lamoille Woman's Club Members Attend

Mesquite Club Centennial Luncheon

Three members from the GFWC Lamoille Woman’s Club (LWC) attended the Centennial Luncheon given on February 11th in Las Vegas to help the GFWC Mesquite Club celebrate their 100 years of community service. The three attending members were Nevada State President and LWC member Ruth Baty, State Corresponding Secretary and LWC member Jane Stevens, and State Treasurer and LWC member Elisabeth Moore pictured at the top left.

Mesquite Club President Joan Powell and her committee held the Centennial Luncheon at the Mesquite Club’s newly remodeled clubhouse. The catered luncheon concluded with a magnificent custom-made dessert—a cake designed and baked especially for the event by Mesquite Club member Mary Boyer Martinez shown top right.

The Centennial Luncheon program was in keeping with the historical nature of the celebration. Dr. Helen Miller enacted the part of Helen J. Steward who was one of the first charter members to start the incorporation of the GFWC clubs. Dr. Miller, in her role as Helen Steward, recited a history of how the Mesquite Club was founded and their beginnings with GFWC.

A Centennial Gala will be held at the Spanish Trails Club House on Saturday evening, February 26th.

The Lamoille Woman’s Club congratulates the Mesquite Club on their 100th anniversary and wishes them many more.
